Once again, we have two excellent books for your reading enjoyment and education this summer!
-
Tuesday, June 29:
Open and Unafraid: The Psalms as a Guide to Lifeby W. David O. Taylor. “The book of Psalms has been
central to God’s people for millennia, across all walks of
life and cultural contexts. In it, we learn about prayer and
poetry, honesty and community, justice and enemies, life and
death, nations and creation. Open and Unafraid shows us
how to read the psalms in a fresh, life-giving way, and so
access the bottomless resources for life that they
provide.”

-
Sunday, August 15: Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life
by Anne Lamott. “For a quarter century, more than a
million readers—scribes and scribblers of all ages and
abilities—have been inspired by Anne Lamott’s hilarious,
big-hearted, homespun advice.” The title implies the book
is for writers, but artists of all kinds will benefit from Anne
Lamott’s wisdom and experience about making art.

Book clubs will meet at Christ Church in the large meeting room at 7:30pm. Masks optional.
Both books are available at the library in paper form and/or audio and e-book, or you can purchase your own copy wherever books are sold. I recommend Better World Books for used copies at great prices, often with free shipping.
