The creative process can be isolating at times, but never more so than during a global pandemic. You’re invited to gather online with other Christ Church artists for a time of making – apart, yet together.
Maker Mondays is led by Caleigh Taylor, every Monday evening at 7:30pm over Zoom. Bring whatever you’re working on, and enjoy fellowship with and encouragement from other artists.
Feb 21: Winter Book Club – Daily Rituals: How Artists Work
Most artists have rituals, whether they know it or not. This book profiles “161 inspired—and inspiring—minds, among them, novelists, poets, playwrights, painters, philosophers, scientists, and mathematicians, who describe how they subtly maneuver the many (self-inflicted) obstacles and (self-imposed) daily rituals to get done the work they love to do, whether by waking early or staying up late; whether by self-medicating with doughnuts or bathing, drinking vast quantities of coffee, or taking long daily walks.” (from Amazon)
Join us for our winter book club discussion at 8pm on Feb 21 over Daily Rituals: How Artists Work. We’ll discuss what these artists have in common, how their rituals are peculiar to their own situations and temperaments, and what we might glean for ourselves in our own artistic rituals.
Daily Rituals is available at the Austin Public Library (book and ebook) and wherever books are sold. Register here for the Zoom link.
